Controlling the womb to mold the perfect citizen: this is the nightmarish fantasy that unites every totalitarian ideology under the sun. Let us not make the mistake of dismissing the brutal war being waged against women today as some peculiar quirk of Islamic totalitarianism, with Afghanistan standing as its most grotesque exemplar. No, this savagery is a universal outrage, an abomination that cuts across cultures and eras, thwarting the dawn of a truly democratic and peaceful world by silencing the voices of women—those custodians of chance, renewal, and dissent, who alone can shatter the shackles of totalitarian uniformity.

Echoes of Horror: The Nazis’ Eugenics and the Theft of Motherhood

Historically, the Nazis’ Lebensborn program lays bare this eugenic fixation in all its cruelty: rounding up single, pregnant women of « Aryan » stock to « free » them from the era’s social stigma against unwed mothers.
« Forced sterilizations of the « unfit, » a merciless grip on reproduction to wipe out the undesirables. »
In return for financial aid and private maternity wards, they were prodded to birth « good Germans » for the Reich. But the flip side was chilling: forced sterilizations of the « unfit, » a merciless grip on reproduction to wipe out the undesirables. This undercurrent still haunts Western societies, where the scandal lingers in subtler guises, undermining the bedrock of genuine democracy by denying women their vital role as architects of diversity.
Shadows of Absence: China’s Lost Daughters Under One-Child Tyranny
Closer to our time, the Chinese Communist Party’s one-child policy, from 1979 until its scrapping, spawned a staggering deficit of twenty to thirty million girls—the grim harvest of prenatal sex selection, selective abortions, or, in the most heinous cases, outright infanticide of baby girls. Birth ratios skewed to a peak of 118 boys per 100 girls in the 2000s, against nature’s baseline of 105 to 106.

Silent Screams: India’s Relentless War on the Girl Child
In India, this gynocide rages on with alarming ferocity: a massive shortfall in girls, fueled by cultural favoritism toward sons and the advent of ultrasounds in the 1980s. Conservative estimates from Dr. Prabhat Jha, of the University of Toronto, peg ten million female fetus abortions between 1981 and 2001. Recent figures scream warning: fifty thousand to a hundred thousand selective terminations yearly, with cumulative female vanishings tallied at 4.2 to 12.1 million from 1980 to 2010. This demographic skew is an absolute scandal, breeding sex trafficking, skyrocketing violence against women, and even « bride trafficking » from afar to fill the void. Rooted in age-old misogyny that brands daughters an economic drag—thanks to dowries and patrilineal inheritances—this practice sustains a vicious cycle that erodes any hope for a balanced society. To ignore this silent genocide is to rob humanity of millions of potential voices, dooming the globe to a lopsided violence that torpedoes dreams of lasting peace and democracy.

Hidden Chains: Fundamentalism’s Grip in the Modern West
Let us delve deeper: if these atrocities largely plague non-Western realms, the ghost of gynophobic totalitarianism stalks the West, too, through the resurgence of evangelical Christian fundamentalism and nativist nationalisms (be they European neo-pagans, neo-Nazis, pan-Russians, pan-Turks, or ultra-Orthodox Jews). Among evangelicals, it mirrors Islamic fundamentalism in eerie symmetry: ironclad control over women’s attire, movement, and freedom beyond the hearth. Figures like Pastor Douglas Wilson brazenly advocate for a « Christian nation » stripped of women’s suffrage—a regressive scandal that exposes the fissures in Western modernity itself. A reminder: New Zealand led the way in 1893; France dragged its feet until 1945, deeming women too beholden to the Church, hence inherently anti-republican and fanatical; Switzerland didn’t grant it federally until 1971, with the last canton holding out until 1991—practically yesterday.
« Women embody chaos, dissent incarnate—a scandal to totalitarians who dread this unpredictability, essential as it is to democracy’s vitality. »
Herein lies the crux: through their power to procreate, women generate novelty, passing on values beyond ideological oversight. They embody chaos, dissent incarnate—a scandal to totalitarians who dread this unpredictability, essential as it is to democracy’s vitality.
From Ancient Hearths to Future Freedoms: Reclaiming Women’s Sovereignty
In ancient Greece, women presided over the « oikos, » the household, as the cornerstone of social and economic order. Totalitarians strike precisely there: stripping women of autonomy to bend this oikos to their « grand design. »
Today in the West, this poison seeps in via evangelical zealotry but also through the militant progressivism of « body liberation » (sexual stereotyping, the hypersexualization of minors girls, bodily commodification, motherhood’s devaluation, pressures toward hyperactive sexuality, the legal weaponization of gender relations), which, in its extreme form, aims to create the artificial womb to « free the women » and society from the burden of natural pregnancy, thereby reducing women to a sexual recreational function in this movable feast. These are the two sides of the same counterfeit coin: a coercive, undemocratic state centralism, hammering out a « perfect society » at the expense of female liberty.

Empowering Women to Dismantle Tyranny Worldwide
Confronting this planetary gynocide—an outrage that assaults all humanity—defending women’s autonomy is no mere indulgence: it is the ultimate bulwark against totalitarianism. Neither « liberate » them by saddling them with fresh burdens nor subjugate them under ancient yokes. Acknowledge their absolute sovereignty: each woman as a free agent, the heroine of her own humanity, unbound by ideological ends. To reject gynocide is to safeguard the possibility against deathly sameness.
« Female autonomy forms the foundation of a vibrant, self-reinventing society—the key to a democratic world where contestation fertilizes minds and wards off mimetic violence. »
Female autonomy forms the foundation of a vibrant, self-reinventing society—the key to a democratic world where contestation fertilizes minds and wards off mimetic violence. So long as women decide, choose, refuse, the future remains open; otherwise, totalitarianism prevails, ushering in a sterile world, frozen in oppression.
We, as men, do not need to save women; we must let them be.
Upcoming Event
