Andréa Ngombet Honoured at 2025 Allard Prize Awards

We’re proud to share this moving video featuring Andréa Ngombet, founder and coordinator of the Sassoufit Collective, who was recently recognized at the prestigious 2025 Allard Prize for International Integrity. Ngombet received an Honourable Mention during the ceremony, highlighting his unwavering fight against corruption and dedication to democratic governance.

The Allard Prize, considered the “Oscars of anti‑corruption,” awards leaders like Andréa for their courage and integrity in confronting graft and defending human rights.

Held June 17, 2025 in New York City, the Allard Prize ceremony brought global attention to frontline anti-corruption crusaders, including finalists Andréa Ngombet, Abdalle Ahmed Mumin, and Virginia Laparra.

Every two years, the Allard Prize for International Integrity recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional courage and leadership in the fight against corruption and the protection of human rights. The prize is one of the largest awards in the world dedicated to anti-corruption efforts, with a CAD $100,000 prize for the laureate, and CAD $50,000 for Honourable Mentions.

This year, Andréa Ngombet was selected among thousands of candidates around the globe. He is the first-ever Congolese recipient to be honoured by the Allard Prize, marking a historic milestone for civil society in Central Africa.

The video tribute produced by the Allard Prize team captures Andréa’s journey: from launching the Sassoufit campaign in 2014 to building a transnational movement for justice. In his acceptance message, Andréa states:

« I receive this honour not as an individual, but as a citizen. I dedicate it to the Congolese people, especially to the women and youth who every day endure, resist, and imagine a better future. »

He also uses the platform to call for the immediate release of political prisoners, including General Jean Marie Michel Mokoko and André Okombi Salissa, whose continued detention remains a stain on Congo’s democratic aspirations.
