Choking Murder of 14 teenagers at mpila police station

His name was Urbain Durbagne, he was 19 years old, a high school student at Lumumba High School, the nephew of close opposition lawyer Steve Bagne. He had been arrested at Mikalou in front of the gate of the house.

26 young people between 14 and 22 years old arrested on Saturday at the Kibeliba police station in Talangai were transferred to the Chaconat police station in Mpila where 14 of them died by choking on Sunday, July 22, 2018. They were mostly young schoolchildren .

In an attempt to stifle this tragedy too much, we have just learned that the political police of SASSOU discreetly took the 14 identified bodies to the mortuary of Makélékélé at the other end of Brazzaville. 12 young survivors and dying were taken to the military hospital of Brazzaville.

Amongst the 14 youths murdered, 5 were expecting the results of the Baccalaureate and 3 were waiting for the results of the high school diploma.

According to our testimonies, the suffocation is due to the bad conditions of stay in the jails: smell of stool, urine, drugs, all in the same cell. The prisoners do their needs in the corners of the cell. They are sometimes required to bring a 25L can to urinate the time of their detention. One can imagine the stench due to rotting even before the can fills. This is the case in all prisons today.
