The arrest of the journalist Ghys Fortuné Bemba is the opportunity for the collective Sassoufit to establish and publish a report on the freedoms of the press, the internet and to demonstrate in Congo Brazzaville.
This report provides an overview of the Congolese media, mostly held by members of the presidential family, and lists major cases of violations of press freedom.
It does not claim to be exhaustive, but it does clarify the systematic nature of political violence against free information.
We dedicate it to the memory of AFP correspondent Joseph Ngouala and the Franco-Congolese journalist Bruno Ossebi and his family, who died at the service of truth and freedom to inform.
